Not a week goes by without controversy erupting at the Great British Bake Off. last week we reported on the injustice regarding the lion bread decision. This week the issue was the use or non-use of blow torches for the creme brûlées.

Mary Berry insisted that the contestants used the old fashioned method of placing custard under the grill to make crème brûlée. However, a top chef has said that not only do blow torches create a more even caramelised topping, they stop the rest of the dessert from continuing to cook. Therefore the results from the show were arguably unfair again and perhaps the wrong contestant was excluded from the competition?
