According to European Commission’s surveys, in 2010 one EU consumer out of five has experienced problems in relation to the purchase of goods or services within the EU market. The estimated financial losses amount to 0.4% of EU GDP. The Commission envisages that transparent and efficient ADR instruments may translate into a saving of approximately Euro 22.5 billion per year, equivalent to 0.19% of EU GDP. For this reason, businesses now have to signpost to ADR and include a link to the EU Platform.
