Join us on 11 January at 5.30pm for a webinar debate on the issue of whether ADR should be made compulsory in consumer/trader/retailer cases.
Following the completion of our ADR Roadshow part funded by the EU, where we offered a free trial of our mediation service, we review the results and look at the experience of the mediators. We look at our report following the 18 month project.
The government is considering making ADR/mediation compulsory in civil cases and to changing the ADR Regulations to make ADR compulsory in cases such as home construction/improvements, car repair and sales and other areas where consumers complain.
We have recently completed an 18 month project researching the benefits of alternative resolution to business and consumers in dispute.
We conducted over 25 mediations between businesses and consumers as part of a free trial and the businesses involved were automatically signed up as members of our ADR service.
Over 90% of those who took part had not used ADR before and reported to us in feedback that they would use it again. The majority resolved theiir dispute using the service.
We will be holding a webinar to explain the outcome of the project and explain how ADR can help your business to resolve any consumer disputes. We will be debating whether any other incentive is needed or whether ADR should be made compulsory, particularly in problem sectors such as travel, car sales, building contracts.
