Become a Civil & Commercial Mediator – CMC Accredited Training Course in Liverpool

Train as a Mediator with ProMediate

Mediation is now firmly established as a central part of dispute resolution in England and Wales.

Courts increasingly expect parties to engage with Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR), businesses are seeking cost-effective ways to resolve disputes, and organisations across both the public and private sectors are recognising the value of mediation in preserving relationships and avoiding litigation.

If you are considering becoming a mediator, ProMediate’s Civil Mediation Council (CMC) Accredited Civil & Commercial Mediator Training Course provides a practical and professionally recognised route into mediation practice.

Course Dates

14–18 September 2026

The course will be delivered through a hybrid format comprising:

  • Three days of live interactive online training
  • Two days of in-person training and assessment in Liverpool

This approach combines flexibility with the opportunity for face-to-face role play, coaching and assessment.

Who Is The Course For?

The course is suitable for:

  • Solicitors
  • Barristers
  • Chartered Surveyors
  • HR Professionals
  • Claims Professionals
  • Business Owners and Managers
  • Consultants
  • Professionals seeking an additional career pathway

No previous mediation experience is required.

Why Train With ProMediate?

There are many mediation courses available. However, successful mediators require much more than an understanding of mediation theory.

Effective mediators must be able to:

  • Build trust quickly
  • Manage difficult conversations
  • Deal with conflict constructively
  • Help parties explore options and reality-test positions
  • Maintain neutrality under pressure
  • Facilitate negotiated settlements

The course focuses heavily on practical skills through role plays, demonstrations and real-world scenarios.

Our aim is not simply to help delegates pass an assessment, but to equip them with the confidence and skills required to conduct mediations in practice.

Experienced Trainers

The course is led by Peter Causton, Barrister, Deputy District Judge, Fellow of the Civil Mediation Council and Director of ProMediate.

Peter has extensive experience in litigation, judicial decision-making and mediation and has trained mediators for many years. Delegates benefit from practical insights drawn from real disputes and real mediations.

Specialist Session: AI and the Mediator

The programme will include a specialist session exploring:

AI and the Mediator
